Parting Notes
When I came on board with the association, I embarked on a relationship with entrepreneurs that grew to be a close and enjoyable one. My past careers have been with the provincial and federal governments and, as most of you knew me from previously, a long career with Brewers Distributor Ltd.
By the time this edition of The Publican is circulated, I will be preparing to shift career gears again by entering your world of entrepreneurialism. I often use the phrase “things happen for a reason”, and I credit the enhancement of my industry knowledge to the years I have spent working with and representing licensees within the industry.
I want to thank Al Arbuthnot for the phone call in 2000, inquiring if I would be interested in the position of Executive Director for the association. I also want to acknowledge Al Arbuthnot and Dave Crown as presidents that I have enjoyed working with immensely, and a board of directors that continue to have a sincere desire to enhance the industry, and over the years were always quick to assist me whenever I called upon their help. I have been most fortunate to have had a totally supportive and loyal office team comprised of Hilda Strohan and Patricia Bonham.
It has been extremely rewarding watching the growth of this organization and cultivating wonderful relationships with many licensees, government officials, and industry suppliers.
I am very proud to have been so intimately involved with this industry for so many years and look forward to continued participation.
